• Optometric Technician (MN) - Optometric technicians assist optometrists in performing a variety of tasks such as recording patient medical histories and helping prepare patients for the vision examinations. They also assist with tests that include patient pre-testing for visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, pupil reflexes, visual field testing, pressure inside the eye, and blood pressure. Optometric technicians may also be asked to assist with eye exercises and vision therapy. Optometric technicians are usually supervised by an optometrist to ensure patient health and well being.
• Orthoptist - Orthopists are eye care specialists who work with ophthalmologists to evaluate and treat eye movement and alignment disorders. Orthopists help patients manage or cure ocular conditions such as crossed eyes, double vision and lazy eye (amblyopia). Orthopists may also assist ophthalmologists create treatment plans including eye exercises, eye patches, eye drops or special glasses.
